VPDF stands for “Portable Data File”, a high density, bi-directional, 2-dimensional, large capacity stacked symbology. Put simply stacked means smaller barcodes stacked together. PDF417 can contain between 3&90 rows. It can also encode all of the 255 characters ASCII character set and date (8-bit binary) shown in mixed format.

Due to the PDF417s 2-dimensional, dense symbology, for the more reliable readings we recommend the use of a high quality CCD scanner or camera.
